I feel like asking someone what’s your favorite X thing leads to conversation stalling more often than fun stuff. Sometimes people have fun answers locked and loaded, but pretty often that sort of question results in a “uhhhhh”.

Instead, I’m seeing more success with the lower pressure “what’s a thing X you enjoyed recently?” It lets people just answer with something that happens to come to mind instead of feeling pressure to find a “good” answer.
